In an interview with Sporza.be, Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has confirmed that he will play no part in Belgium’s next EURO 2020 qualifier against Kazakhstan as he aims to recover.

The 26-year-old, who joined Inter in a club record transfer deal from Manchester United this past Summer, has been struggling with a back injury in recent weeks, an injury that has had a noticeable affect on his performances.

“I enjoyed it and I am happy for having set a new goal record for the national team. It was all fantastic. People expect so much from us and now being qualified is very important for us,” he explained, off the back of Belgium’s emphatic 9-0 win over San Marino.

“I will stay here in Belgium to recover, I will not go to Kazakhstan, but I will work hard to get into the top condition and put the physical problems behind me and get back to being 100%.”
