An inspection into the safety conditions at San Siro has been conducted by the Milanese justice system following a recent incident during Atalanta’s Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk according to a report which appeared in the paper edition of Corriere della Sera.

Some measures have already been taken to ensure safety in the shape of tarpaulin’s being placed over areas considered unsafe for fans but these measures may need to be extended following an incident, where one was injured after falling.

The inspection found that the tarpaulin’s currently in place do not ensure the safety of children but it is difficult to change them without then obstructing the views of some fans. An alternative would be to cover the areas with glass but those in charge of the inspection fear that the glass coverings would quickly end up vandalised.

For the time being neither Inter nor AC Milan will face complications but the judges could soon ask for a more in-depth inspection to take place before making more definitive evaluations of the situation.
