Inter coach Antonio Conte has guided the Nerazzurri to their best start after seven games in over a decade, according to today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report highlights how there has been an almost 30% increase in goals scored after seven games compared to last season, with Conte’s squad scoring 14 goals compared to last season’s 10.

Furthermore, there has been an increase in goals scored by midfielders – from five to seven – as well as double the amount of goals scored by forwards, six this season compared to three last season.

Inter under Conte have also been ahead of their opponents for much longer compared to last season as well, 334 minutes compared to 185 twelve months ago, showing the growth of the squad under the former Juventus and Chelsea coach.

The 2.1% drop of possession compared to last season also shows a change in mentality for the squad, the report details, suggesting that Conte’s preferred quick vertical movement focuses more on moving the ball forward instead of retaining possession.

Finally, Conte’s squad touches the ball more in the opponent’s final third compared to Luciano Spalletti’s squad last season.
