Paris Saint Germain midfielder Leandro Paredes spoke to Argentinian media outlet Marca yesterday to discuss his PSG teammate Mauro Icardi.

“Mauro is working to return to 100% fitness. When he arrived, he hadn’t played much, but now he’s happy because in the last games he has scored. He certainly wants to return to the national team; we’re also working for that. I think the team is consolidating after the Copa America, we’re happy and we want to continue to improve.”

Icardi joined the Parisian side from Inter on transfer deadline day this summer on a season long loan deal with an option to buy for €70 million.

The 26-year-old Argentinian striker’s relationship with Inter deteriorated rapidly last season, forcing the player to leave the club if he wished to progress his career.

He has started this season in Paris strongly, scoring two goals in his first four appearances for the French club, including a decisive goal in their 1-0 victory over Turkish side Galatasaray in the Champions League.
