Inter may look to sign Ajax midfielder Donny Van de Beek next summer following the 22-year-old Dutchman’s failure to leave Ajax earlier this summer, according to Italian media outlet FcInterNews.

The 22-year-old midfielder was one of Ajax’s most exciting players last season in their run to the Champions League semi-finals, even scoring the winning goal against Tottenham in the first leg of the semi-finals.

The report details how Inter registered their interest in Van de Beek in June of this year but dropped their interest amidst competition from top clubs around Europe like Real Madrid, Liverpool and Barcelona.

Despite the fact that Ajax hope to receive €80 million for the 22-year-old, Inter may wait until next summer before launching another assault for the midfielder. By then his contract will only have one more year left, a situation the Dutch club are desperately looking to avoid by preparing a contract renewal for the player.
