Former AC Milan striker Carolina Morace spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia today, revealing that the growth of women’s football is an objective of Inter CEO Beppe Marotta.

“I talked to him, he told me how he believes in the development of this sector. And what he’s done with Juventus is a testament to that.”

Morace scored 105 goals in her 150 appearances for the Italian women’s national team over a 19-year career. She most recently worked as the first coach of AC Milan Women, being dismissed after one season.

Following the Italian national team’s success in this year’s Women’s World Cup, growth of women’s football in Italy has started to increase, with higher viewer counts and more interest in the sector.

Marotta was one of the forerunners in the sector, pushing the Bianconeri to invest further in their squad and improve the facilities available to the squad, who heavily contributed to the Italy squad at this summer’s World Cup.
