Former AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani: “San Siro Can’t Be Renovated, A New Stadium Would Be San Siro 4”

Former AC Milan vice-chairman and chief executive Adriano Galliani believes that the Rossoneri and Inter are right to be looking to build a new stadium instead of renovating their current San Siro stadium.

The two clubs have proposed a new state-of-the-art ground but have faced opposition to their plans, namely from local residents in the San Siro district and Milanese city councillors who would prefer San Siro to be renovated.

“You can only see the field and not the stands when sat in the Skybox. The stadium was made in three different periods and therefore it cannot be renovated. In addition to this, the two teams playing there would have to play away from it for years if they tried to renovate it,” he said in an interview with radio station Radio Anch’io Sport.

He concluded: “I do not understand all these tears for having a new, wonderful, modern stadium, which would be 50 metres away from the current one, it would be San Siro 4. It will always be San Siro.”
