Valentino Lazaro has shared his views on how the Austrian national team have performed over the most recent international break with them now on the brink of securing their place at EURO 2020.
The 23-year-old has found minutes hard to come by at Inter this season since his arrival in the Summer transfer window from Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin but this has not affected his performances for Austria with him scoring once and tallying one assist in the past two games.
“We have demonstrated the mentality of a team who has wanted to win. After the first defeats, we regained our self-confidence and wanted to show everyone that we have quality,” he explained in an interview with Austrian news outlet Sport ORF.
He concluded by looking ahead to their penultimate group stage match against North Macedonia in little under a month’s time: “If we win against North Macedonia in Vienna, it would be a historic qualification.”
