Inter legend Sandro Mazzola has shared his belief that Roma striker Edin Dzeko would have been the ‘right man’ for Inter had they managed to acquire him during the Summer transfer window.

The Nerazzurri heavily courted the Bosnian striker but were unsuccessful in convincing Roma to part ways with him before he went on to sign a new contract with the Giallorossi.

“I think it will be difficult to see him go on the pitch on Sunday. Then everything depends on the player’s character and it seems to me that he is like this. At Inter he would be the right man at the right place,” he remarked in an interview with Italian radio station TeleRadioStereo.

Mazzola, who spent his entire 17 year playing career with Inter and then some further years at the club in the capacity of sporting director, then shared his views on Inter manager Antonio Conte.

“I like Conte, when I see his team coming onto the field and the players are watching him, you see that there is a particular harmony and that is the most important thing.”
