Diego Godin has sang the praises of Inter manager Antonio Conte for the way he has the team learning under his tutelage.
“With Conte we learn day by day. He is a new coach for almost all of us: we are still in the learning phase, he is transmitting his ideas to us,” he said in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.
“He makes us understand how to behave in the game, he gives us his passion and his ideas of football which is as important as the tactics. In my opinion, this is fundamental. We are understanding so many things, I can’t enter into the specifics but I assure you that we are learning a lot.”
He proceeded to go on to discuss who his childhood idols were.
Enzo Francescoli was my main idol as a child. On a defensive level though, I always looked up to Diego Lugano. We have become great friends.
“I must say that I also loved Carles Puyol when he was at Barcelona. He is a player who managed to manage himself and for this reason he had a very long career. He was one of the greatest defenders in the world.”
