Football intermediary Silvano Martina has revealed that Roma striker Edin Dzeko was very keen to join Inter during the Summer transfer window but the Nerazzurri’s will to wait put him off.

The Bosnian international drew very heavy links with the Nerazzurri but they struggled to agree terms with Roma for his transfer and the move eventually collapsed as Dzeko signed a contract extension with the capital city club instead.

“Inter really want to sign him but wanted to wait until the final days of the transfer market but the player did not feel like waiting,” he said during an interview with broadcaster Sport Italia.

“Chatting at his home, we came to the conclusion that signing [a new contract] with Roma was the best solution. He would have been very happy to go to Milan [to play for Inter]. The opportunity to play in the Champions League was a stimulant and Inter have given off the idea of being the team closest to Juventus.”
