In an interview with Corriere della Sera, which appeared in today’s paper edition, Cmr Sportium chief executive Massimo Roj has spoken further on his companies project for Inter and AC Milan’s new stadium.

“Our project is born from the needs of the area, it is not a cathedral in the desert, it is something that must serve citizens, residents, sportsmen and then even tourists,” he explained.

“Our project is born from the heart of Milan, from competence and is designed for people, for inhabitants, for fans and as our motto says, is designed on a human scale.

“We started with what we thoughts the needs of the local population could be and how to best connect this area with the rest of the city because San Siro was built 90 years ago and the city developed around without ever integrating it.

“Our project first and foremost it is a project of urban integration and regeneration, an area that must be returned to citizens with mixed functions, commerce, services, retail, services and as a connection element a large green area that becomes the determining factor of the project.”

He concluded: “Our project has two elements that will remain from the Meazza. The wall with all the trophies won by the teams will be saved and the San Siro pitch will remain too. It will not just be for only a few close friends but open to the city and for those who live there.

“In addition, one of the hills will resemble the San Siro terraces and on these terraces there will be some vineyards that will produce Milanese wine. Ours is a project that comes from the heart and from Milan.”
