The refereeing assigments for the coming weekend’s action in Serie A have been published with Piero Giacomelli assigned to referee Inter’s match away to Sassuolo.

The 41-year-old will be refereeing in his fifth game of the season across all competitions and it will be the first time he referees a game involving either side.

In his four games refereed to date this term, he has shown a real liking for dishing out a yellow card handing out no less than 13 across the games he has refereed in. He has also brandished one red card and awarded three penalty kicks.

Giacomelli has refereed Inter on six previous occasions, of which Inter have won two of, whilst he has refereed no less than 17 games involving Sassuolo. The Neroverdi have won just two of the games he has been in charge of.

He will be assisted at the MAPEI Stadium by Salvatore Longo and Matteo Bottegoni whilst Davide Ghersini will be the fourth official.

Paolo Silvio Mazzoleni has been assigned to take charge of VAR and Valentino Fiorito will be there to assist him.
