Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is adamant that despite his sides struggles this season, the decisions to let several established players go in favour of giving young players a chance was the right decision.

The Premier League outfit let Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku among others depart the club during the Summer transfer window with many blaming all the departures for United’s lack of success this term.

“In one-off games, you think we could have had a number of extra players with experience. Alexis and Rom are goalscorers and good players, but at the moment, we made those decisions and they were the right decisions,” he stressed in an interview with British broadcaster Sky Sports.

The Norwegian, who was given the managerial position on a permanent basis after an interim period in charge earlier this year, concluded: “We know we have not had the results that we wanted, but I would not have kept the players we sold. It was the right decision.”
