Former Inter striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic may return to Italy after his contract expires with MLS side LA Galaxy, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how both the 38-year-old striker and his wife, Helena, have a soft spot for Italy. They still have a home in Milan, their favourite city in the country. The player has also expressed interest in working with coach Antonio Conte, with both the player and the coach known for their extreme work rate.

Furthermore, Inter would be able to utilise Ibrahimovic, due to a slight lack of depth in the attacking department. However, the injured Alexis Sanchez will return to the squad in January and it’s likely that Ibrahimovic would find less playing time as the season progressed.

On the other hand, one advantage of signing the 38-year-old forward, the report continues, would be to stop title race rivals Napoli from signing him. With both clubs looking to compete with Juventus for the Scudetto this season, there will be fights in the transfer market as well.
