Inter are continuing to keep a close eye on Nemanja Matic with a view to a potential January transfer window swoop according to a report in today’s paper edition of Milanese newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri club have identified the Serbian midfielder as a player who could strengthen their midfield department, partly because he has worked under Inter manager Antonio Conte previously.

Matic has been limited to just six appearances for a total of 340 minutes across all competitions this season and is clearly out of favour at Manchester United under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The 31-year-old has a contract with the Old Trafford outfit until the end of the season meaning Inter could perhaps acquire him in a low cost deal come January however Manchester United have an option wherein they can extend Matic’s deal by a further year which could put a spanner in the works.

The report also states that Inter have had an interview with Barcelona star Ivan Rakitic too. The Croatian, similarly, to Matic, has struggled for game time this season and could seek pastures new in January.
