Inter want to try and take advantage of Ivan Rakitic’s current situation at Barcelona by making a move for him in the January transfer window according to Spanish news outlet Sport.

The Nerazzurri’s interest in the 31-year-old Croatian is not new after they had tried to sign him this past Summer but were unable to do so.

Rakitic has found playing time particularly hard to come by this season with him limited to just 197 minutes across all competitions and he has made it absolutely clear that he is not happy to sit around and play no part in recent weeks.

He is not the only player that Inter management are considering with a view to strengthening the midfield though with them also keeping tabs on Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic.

Matic, similarly to Rakitic, has found time on the pitch limited and with his contract expiring at the end of the season, Inter could pick him up cheaply in the January window.
