The parachutist who landed on the pitch during Inter’s 4-3 win away to Sassuolo yesterday had to do so due to an emergency according to a report in today’s paper edition of Tuttosport.

The 35-year-old, who is a very experienced parachutist with over 900 launches, landed on the field shortly before Romelu Lukaku slotted home from the penalty spot to give Inter a 3-1 lead.

Footage of the incident quickly began to appear online and investigators have found that the parachutist had to land on the pitch having examined the footage on his camera, which was mounted on his head, due to an emergency situation although the report does not specify exactly what that emergency was.
