Parma coach Roberto D’Aversa spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia yesterday following his side’s 5-1 victory over Genoa, discussing the game and looking ahead to this weekend’s league clash against Inter.

“I already have in mind the picture of the match against Inter, which will be very difficult. In football you have to make the pitch talk, as we did tonight. We have to go to San Siro and try to put the Nerazzurri in trouble.”

“The guys are having a great season. Even tonight, despite the absences, they have had a great performance.”

The Italian coach then discussed the injury to striker Roberto Inglese.

“The doctor ruled out a fracture for Roberto, tomorrow we will know the extent of the injury. I’m sorry, but to see people like Dermaku and Cornelius doing well is satisfying. They work hard during the week and are rewarded when they are called into question.”

The 44-year-old coach spoke about his team’s more attacking minded approach this season.

“Much depends on the characteristics of the players you have available; I must say that this year the quality of the squad has improved. But we know very well that Serie A, when you give up a little something, it’s a very difficult championship. So, we must always try to interpret the games like tonight.”

D’Aversa was positive about his team’s resounding victory at home to Genoa.

“We started very strongly, with two resounding opportunities. Then we had a difficult time, but over the 90-minute period the guys pushed from start to finish: the result reflects the progress of the game. Compared to other matches, tonight we’ve made the most of the amount of play we’ve had.”

He also mentioned that the squad are already looking ahead to this weekend’s league clash against Inter.

“It was important, because it was a direct encounter. Let’s not forget what our goal is, we have to be on the sidelines right away and think about the next match against Inter, which will be very difficult.”
