In an interview with TuttoMercatoWeb, former Borussia Dortmund player Giovanni Federico has shared his thoughts ahead of the game between the German side and Inter in the Champions League.

“Dortmund are a much improved team in terms of quality and squad depth. The Summer signings of Hummels, Hazard, Brandt and Schulz have given many alternatives and have also raised the level of the team,” he said.

He then spoke on Marco Reus, who will be missing the match through injury.

“He will be a big miss. More than him being a player of high quality, he is also the captain of the team. An absence like that of Reus affects so much, when he is fully fit he can hurt anyone.”

Next he shared his thoughts on Inter.

“I have followed the excellent start the Nerazzurri have made to the season. I had no doubts that they could achieve this thanks to the large number Summer purchases and the arrival of Conte. It seems to me that Inter have went up a gear from last year and this can make the different in the Champions League.”

He was then asked for expectations for the match.

“I hope it will be a great game. It will be an open game and I am sure that the home crowd will push Inter on from the start and for this reason I see Inter as favourites. I think Inter will win 2-1 today and Dortmund will win by the same scoreline in the return leg.”
