Inter’s Dutch international central defender Stefan de Vrij was very pleased when he spoke to Swedish broadcaster Viasat Sport in their post match coverage of the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 win at home against Borussia Dortmund at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district in the Champions League.
“I’m very happy with the way we played. We showed a lot of discipline, the whole team not just the defence. We defended very well but our defending starts with our attackers, so we did very well as a team.”
“Everyone worked for each other and we were very concentrated and so they didn’t create many chances where we made mistakes.”
“It was a very important match, we all knew that we had to win if we still wanted to have a chance to go through to the next round. We did so we are very happy about that but we’re only half way through the group stage, we still have three more matches left to play so we need to continue playing like this.”
“A few times when we lost the ball they created dangerous chances. They have very good players up front and in midfield they are very quick and creative and can create an opportunity out of nothing, so we had to very focused.”
“When you play against a strong team like Dortmund it is normal that they will create chances against you but we did very well defensively. Our goalkeeper did very well too.”
“We’re very excited for how we are playing in the league as it is going very well but we have to show discipline and play the way we played tonight in every game. We play every three days so the win tonight is already in the past and now we are already looking forward to the next match [against Parma].”
