Amid continued speculation that Flamengo are set to sign Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa from Inter, Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset have came up with the three main reasons why the Brazilian failed at the Nerazurri.

The 23-year-old, who has bagged 34 goals in 47 appearances since joining Flamengo on loan back in January, joined Inter in a €30 million deal from Santos back in 2016.

Gabigol has made just 10 appearances for a total of 183 minutes in the time since joining Inter, in which he managed to notch a single goal.

The first reason Sport Mediaset believe Gabigol failed was due to how young he was when he joined. He joined aged 19 and his behaviour in the locker room for someone so young was very presumptuous.

The second was his total failure to adapt and acclimatise to his new surroundings in Italy and Milan, which were drastically different to what he was used to back in Brazil.

Finally, the total chaos that was going on at the club during his time between the change in ownership and several manager changes did not help his cause at all.

Three years on from joining Inter, it has become clear that Gabigol has become a much more mature individual but it would seem like Inter will not get to experience that version of him.
