Italian media personality Fabrizio Corona is to go on trial for libel after making claims that Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic had an affair with teammate Mauro Icardi’s wife, and agent, Wanda Nara, according to a report from tgcom24.

Corona, whose trial will begin in Milan on December 18, made the claims in an article which appeared on his website earlier on this year, claims that Croatian international Brozovic was quick to deny before getting lawyer Danilo Buongiorno involved.

This is not the first time that Corona has found himself in bother with the authorities either. Back in 2007 he was imprisoned after being part of a huge extortion scandal involving several celebrities and sports stars. More recently in 2013 he was sentenced to five years in prison.

Brozovic has been with Inter since January 2015 and has made 165 appearances across all competitions for the club, in which he has scored 22 goals and provided 21 assists for teammates.
