Inter Primavera player Wilfried Gnonto has shared his shock at his inclusion in the Italy under 17 squad for the upcoming under 17 World Cup.

“I wanted to play just to have fun with my team mates. I did not think football could become my most important commitment. It was my friends who pushed me to try it,” he said.

“I did not expect the call-up. Wearing the blue shirt is such an important thing and to be part of this magnificent group, fills me with pride. All my efforts are aimed at making my family feel better and I feel at home here.”

Asked what he hopes will happen in the future for him he concluded: “I do not know where football will take me but I think I will remain in Italy because Italy is my home.”

The 15-year-old sensation has four goals in seven appearances having split his time between Inter’s under 18 side and the Primavera side this season.
