Flamengo hope to conclude a deal to sign Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa on a permanent basis prior to their Copa Libertadores final against River plate next month according to Brazilian news outlet Extra.

Gabigol joined the Brazilian giants on loan from Inter back in the January transfer window and his 35 goals in 47 appearances has the Mengao wanting to keep him around permanently.

Flamengo are confident that they can acquire him outright before the final on November 23 and have offered Inter around €20 million for the 23-year-old striker, who recently received a re-call into the Brazilian national team after a few years of no involvement.

Talks with Gabigol himself and his representatives to discuss contract terms are expected to happen soon. He will have a salary fitting of the numbers he has put up this reason.

It just now remains to be seen whether or not some European clubs may try and swoop in for him and whether if they did come in, Gabigol would rather go there than remain with Flamengo.
