Inter fans are starting to believe that 22-year-old Argentinian striker Lautaro Martinez will be a perfect replacement for former Nerazzurri forward Mauro Icardi, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.
The report details how Lautaro has scored six goals and provided two assists in his first 11 games so far this season, the same as Argentine forward Icardi scored in his first 11 games of his second season with Inter.
However, Lautaro’s goals have been against more difficult opposition, the report adds, with goals against Barcelona, Juventus, Sassuolo and Borussia Dortmund, compared to Icardi who scored against weaker opposition like Icelandic side Stjarnan and three goals against Sassuolo.
Last season the 22-year-old Inter striker scored nine goals in his debut season with Inter, the same amount as Icardi did in his debut season.
The report suggests that the Inter fans are starting to believe that Lautaro can rise to the heights that Icardi did, but without the off pitch drama.
