Genoa Coach Thiago Motta: “Me, Balotelli & Pandev Shared Historical Moments At Inter”

New Genoa coach Thiago Motta, who was a part of the historic Inter squad that won the Treble in the 2009/10 season, spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN following the Ligurian club’s 3-1 victory over Brescia yesterday.

“With Mario we met before the match, greeting each other normally. With both of them we shared historical moments at Inter, today as an opponent Balotelli had a great match but we spoke little. He was focused on the game. Goran calls me mister, not Thiago.”

Motta, Balotelli and Pandev were all a part of the Nerazzurri squad that won the Treble in the 2009/10 season under coach Jose Mourinho. Motta took over from previous Genoa coach Aurelio Andreazzoli earlier this week due to the latter’s dismissal from the club.

Genoa now sit 17th in the league table, with the 37-year-old Italian Brazilian having to work hard to guide the club to safety following their abysmal start to this season’s campaign.
