The Milan city council will today declare a public interest in the new stadium project put forward by Inter and AC Milan according to a report in today’s paper edition of Tuttosport.
The two clubs will now have to wait and see which constraints the city council wish to place upon the project. The management of the respective clubs are seeking clarification on these constraints which could include the likes of how long the clubs will own the land at San Siro for.
As per the report, depending on what the constraints are, Inter and AC Milan may be forced into considering alternative areas to build their new stadium if their plans are significantly affected.
The Sesto San Giovanni area of the city has been mentioned as a possible alternative spot for the clubs to build in recent weeks and months. With there being private land available there, the two clubs would have a lot more freedom to do what they like, unlike at San Siro, which is council owned ground.
