In today’s paper edition, Gazzetta dello Sport have taken a look at Diego Godin and his uncharacteristic poor performances in recent weeks.
The highly experienced Uruguayan international joined Inter on a free transfer during the Summer after his contract with Spanish side Atletico Madrid expired.
Despite getting off to a decent start, he has struggled in recent weeks and made several mistakes. For the first time, he is having to learn to play in a three man defence, opposed to a four man defence which he has played in for the entirety of his career.
He knows himself that he has got to do better and it is evident that he performs best when playing alongside Stefan de Vrij and Milan Skriniar at the back with the three of them creating an almost impenetrable wall in front of Samir Handanovic. In the six games they’ve played together, they have kept four clean sheets.
