Inter’s primary transfer target for the upcoming January transfer window is Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal, according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri are looking to strengthen their midfield department after recent weeks have highlighted a real lack of quality out of the main starting players.

Antonio Conte wants to add a physical presence who has the capability of playing a part in the creation/scoring of goals and Vidal perfectly fits the bill with sporting director Piero Ausilio already at work.

The report goes on to state that Barcelona do not wish to sell the Chilean permanently, therefore Inter may only be able to acquire him on a loan with redemption option basis in January and need to make a sale first.

Should Inter be unable to acquire the 32-year-old whatsoever, they will go in for Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic, who should be able to be signed in a low cost deal due to the fact his contract with the Premier League side expires at the end of the season.

It cannot be ruled out either that both players could arrive at the Nerazzurri, moves that would enormously increase the quality of the midfield.
