Milan city mayor Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Sala has shared his thoughts and feelings after the Milanese council gave Inter and AC Milan the green light to proceed with their new stadium project.

“I am happy with the favourable opinion of the project but the project, as it is today, is not acceptable. I voted in favour of the new stadium. Some of the requests the clubs have made are excessive,” he is quoted as saying by Italian news agency ANSA.

“Now the real discussion starts with the clubs. I believe that the clubs are aware of the fact that the project they have proposed to us was one too much in their favour. There are so many aspects to it and if we are to come to an agreement, we will do so by working on several aspects. We must revise this proposal a little more in favour of the city council.”
