According to a report from British news outlet The Guardian, Inter are eyeing a move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen.

Spurs have made it clear to Inter that they will not let the Belgian centre back depart in January but with Vertonghen’s contract expiring at the end of the season, there is nothing stopping Inter from trying to agree a pre-contract with him for next season.

Inter are ready to offer the experienced 32-year-old Belgian international a three year contract, something Spurs are unlikely to offer him.

The former Ajax player joined the north London club back in the Summer of 2012 and has since went on to 294 competitive appearances across all competitions.

This season he has made nine appearances for a total of 793 minutes on the field, in which he has helped Spurs to achieve two clean sheets, most recently against Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League group stage.
