Conte Puts Inter’s Leaky Defence Lately Down To Players Being Distracted & Fatigued

Inter manager Antonio Conte believes he has sussed out the reasons behind Inter’s leaky defence in their past few matches according to a report in today’s print edition of Roman news outlet Corriere dello Sport.

Inter have shipped seven goals in their last three Serie A matches, five more goals than they conceded in the previous seven matches before that in the league.

“Conte is particularly sensitive to the problem because in his career he has always built his successes on the waterproofing of the rearguard and seeing the defence concede goals with the frequency of the last three matches in the league is not the best.

“Conte has analysed the situation alongside his staff, but found a single answer to the increase in errors was not easy to find. He found that there was too much distraction against both Sassuolo and Parma and thanks to fatigue, the team pressed less fiercely.”
