Former Italy international midfielder and now Rai Sport pundit Antonio Di Gennaro, has commented on the current state of Inter’s squad amidst Inter’s packed fixture schedule which has highlighted some deficiencies in the team.
“Antonio Conte wanted more players. He wanted Edin Dzeko before Romelu Lukaku. Ultimately, I think he wanted them both. Having to compete on several fronts, he wanted a different team. There are good players in the squad, but maybe he wanted someone of superior quality. A lot of money was spent anyway,” the former Hellas Verona player began an interview with Italian radio station TMW Radio.
“€22 million man Valentino Lazaro has yet to been but Conte has managed to revitalise Antonio Candreva. A couple of players are injured, namely Alexis Sanchez, who is a very heavy absence but injuries happen for every team. Conte does not have Juventus’ spare parts but they are still up there.”
