After a sluggish start to the game, Inter controlled most of the first half and even managed to put the ball into the net twice, only for them to be rightfully ruled out for offside and for ball being out of bounds.

The second half started as the first but Bologna went ahead through a hopeful shot that took a wicked deflection to beat Handanovic.

However, Conte’s men gathered their wits and rallied to not only equalize but win the game in the dying minutes thanks to their fantastic attacking duo, Lautaro and Lukaku who played a huge part:

Samir Handanovic – 6.5: Bologna had 3 shots on target and the goal was a deflection. Did everything right otherwise. Quick throw outs, commanding the box. Captain.

Milan Skriniar – 6.5: Growing into the 3 man defence. The art of staying on your feet and winning the ball is in his DNA. Niggly fouls to stop Bologna attack were well timed.

Stefan de Vrij – 6.5: When a defender is barely noticed, it means he’s doing an amazing job. Not many better than him in playing the ball out. Unlucky on the goal.

Alessandro Bastoni – 6: Playing next to De Vrij and Skriniar is not easy as many expect you to be of that quality. Doesn’t back down and always sticks to the plan. Prospect.

Valentino Lazaro – 6.5: After a calamitous start to his Inter career, he showed what he can do. Belter of an attacking performance without anything to show for it.

Nicolo Barella – 6.5: Has been ever present and still manages to run like a bunny with everlasting batteries. Tackles are world class, just needs goals to be a world beater.

Marcelo Brozovic – 5.5: Tiredness is a genuine excuse in Brozo’s case. Not so epic tonight and Bologna stifled him well. Hopefully the mistakes will go away after he rests.

Roberto Gagliardini – 5: Gagliardini’s worst performance of the season. Conte should be livid about the booking. Never looked in command on or off the ball. One step back.

Cristiano Biraghi – 5.5 : Defensively did his bit. However in this system if the wingbacks can’t attack with verve the team becomes very predictable. Didn’t make the runs.

Lautaro Martinez – 7: The renewal can’t come soon enough. Well on his way to be a world class striker. A constant menace for Bologna’s defence even without the service.

Romelu Lukaku – 7.5: Much more involved in the play in the first half than the second. Could easily have had an hattrick. Leader on the pitch and off it as well.

Matias Vecino – 5.5: Woefully out of touch. But Gagliardini was so poor that Conte had to take the risk with a semi fit Vecino. One good header and not much else.

Antonio Candreva – 6.5: Candreva did exactly what the coach ordered. Instant impact with his part in winning the corner that led to the first goal. Can’t do much wrong.

Matteo Politano – N/A: Not much time to show his ability. Ran for the 8 minutes he was on and made sure he was involved when the ball was on his wing.

Antonio Conte – 7: Great reaction from his team and the subs were well timed and well judged. The only complaint would be that the team took too long to react.

Federico La Penna – 7: Good use of the VAR. Maybe some minor throw ins and free kicks wrong but overall managed to keep control of a game that was a bit on the edge.

Inter – 7: On a difficult away trip, tired legs and a goal down, the team dug deep and used every ounce of their energy to return to the top of Serie A for a bit.
