In an interview with Calciomercato.com, AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni has provided an update on the current situation regarding the new stadium they intend to build with Inter.

“The Milan City Council has clarified that the restructuring of San Siro to make it modern stadium is not possible and therefore should be set aside,” he began.

“Moreover, they have clarified what it takes for a new stadium at San Siro, and it’s the idea that the two clubs pursue, the conditions will be discussed, because in the end it is the junta that has to make the decision.

“The stadium will pay for itself, our €600 million stadium must have its own returns. We will move within the framework of this law to find a meeting point with the municipality.”

He concluded: “The fundamental thing is the urgency of equipping clubs with a stadium to become competitive again. It is fundamental, it will take three years. It needs to start immediately. This will be a fundamental topic in the next discussions.”
