Milan city mayor Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Sala has confirmed that further negotiations will be needed with Inter and AC Milan relating to their proposed new stadium.
“The city council needs to get to work with the two clubs to understand how we can find an agreement between their needs and our goalposts. It is obvious to everyone that the requested volumes have not been considered manageable, they are excessive so from this point of view it is a matter of working with them,” he is quoted as saying by ANSA as relayed by Calcio e Finanza.
“It is evident to me that the council wish to continue with this operation but it is impossible to do so with the present conditions.
“It is a negotiation in all respects, it is natural that this should be the case because we need to converge two interests that today are not perfectly aligned.”
He concluded: “I believe that the city council is not against the idea of a new stadium but it is necessary to find formulas that are sustainable from a financial point of view and also from the point of view of what will be built.”
