In an interview which appeared in today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport, young Inter defender Lorenzo Pirola has named fellow Nerazzurri stopper Milan Skriniar as his idol.

“I started playing when I was six years old and I have always played in defence. I have always trained with the first team as I grew up, but I have a long way to go still. My footballing idol? Milan Skriniar. I can learn a lot from him and he is helping me to improve.”

Pirola then spoke on what he and his Italy under 17 teammates are aiming for at the under 17 World Cup which is currently taking place in Brazil.

“Scoring in a World Cup is an incredible feeling. We are a great group, who are strong in all departments. We are here to win the World Cup. After finishing second at the European Championship’s we said that in Brazil we would have done everything to improve on that finish.”
