Italy under 21 national team manager Paolo Nicolato has called for Italy’s young prospects to be given time to grow amid reports already calling several young players players who will form the backbone of the senior national team for the years to come.
“The likes of Nicolo Zaniolo, Nicolo Barella and Alessandro Bastoni, must be allowed to grow and be allowed to do so without pressure,” he stressed in an interview which appeared in today’s print edition of Turin newspaper Tuttosport.
“It is not up to me to say whether the best solution for Luca Pellegrini is to return immediately or in a year or two to Juventus.
“In general I can emphasise that for him, as for others, it is important to play regularly, especially as a starter as is the case, because the experience that being on the field gives you, especially when it comes to very young players, is fundamental for their growth.
