As part of a long interview with Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, legendary Italian forward Luigi ‘Gigi’ Riva has shared his thoughts on what he has made of Antonio Conte’s Inter side this season.

“There is still a long way to go in the season. You can immediately see two things in Conte’s team which he showed as a player, both agonism and concentration,” he explained.

Riva, who spent all barring one season of his career with Cagliari, then went on to sing the praises of Nicolo Barella, who left the Rossoblu to join Inter this past Summer and has started life in Nerazzurri well.

“He has always had the head of a footballer who wants to grow. Now he is a player of international calibre, he continues to get better. It is suffice to say that even in the most complicated games, whether that be in Serie A or in the Champions League, he plays with intelligence on the field.”
