In an interview with Roman news outlet Corriere dello Sport, Lazio striker Ciro Immobile has discussed the competition he is facing in the Serie A top scorer race this season.

Immobile is currently leading the way with 13 goals to his name in 847 minutes in the league, four goals more than second placed Romelu Lukaku, who has grabbed nine goals in his first 11 league matches for Inter and five more than third placed Luis Muriel, of Atalanta.

“Who are the most formidable rivals for the top scorer award? I think Romelu Lukaku and Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo will surely score some hat-tricks so he will rise up the chart and he will be in the running,” he remarked.

Immobile, who recently scored his 100th goal for Lazio, added: “Andrea Belotti and Duvan Zapata are also strong. It is always difficult to win this title in Italy as there are so many strong attackers.”
