Noted jouranlist Luigi Garlando has dedicated part of his column in today’s Gazzetta dello Sport to the recent events at Inter, namely Antonio Conte’s comments regarding poor planning.

“It is clear that Antonio Conte is in a hurry. That he lacks players. That it should continue to be considered a crime that Edin Dzeko was not signed nor a player that has won so much,” he began his column.

“A Vidal type player would have helped the young players and transmitted security on certain stormy nights.  The attack is short as behind Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku there is a child in Sebastiano Esposito. If you hire the ‘100 euro restaurant’ manager, expect ambitious transfer market demands.

“Inter made mistakes in the market, but it is also true that a different distribution of the treasure would have better equipped the team.”

He also touched upon Conte’s “we signed players from Cagliari and Sassuolo” comment by coming to the defence of Nicolo Barella and Stefano Sensi, who were signed from those clubs.

Barella struggled in the early days of Inter. It was not an easy leap for a 22-year-old boy to make. He struggled but has been good at imposing himself. Together with Stefano Sensi he performed at the Camp Nou. They grew in self-esteem.”

He concluded by talking about Inter’s hot and cold performances in games: “Against Barcelona, Juventus, Sassuolo and Brescia, Inter have been bipolar and had unexplained implosions. There is a lot to work on.”
