Paris Saint Germain sporting director Leonardo has responded to on loan striker Mauro Icardi’s recent comments in the media.

Icardi joined the French capital club on a season long loan from Inter this past Summer with a reported €70 million option to buy attached.

In a recent interview, the Argentine admitted he will do everything he can to ensure that PSG take up the option to sign him on a permanent basis at the end of the season.

“I am pleased with his recent comments, we can see that he is doing everything. I think it is nice to see a player who has a goal but there is still a long way to go for all of us. We will see what will happen,” Leonardo remarked in an interview in the mixed zone following PSG’s 1-0 win over Club Brugge in the Champions League last night.

Icardi has made nine appearances since his arrival at the Parc des Princes, in which he has scored eight goals.
