Former Inter defender Riccardo Ferri has shared his thoughts and feelings on the current state of Inter a few days on from the disappointing defeat to Borussia Dortmund.

“The two faces of Inter seen against Dortmund has left a bitter taste in the mouth,” he started an interview with TuttoMercatoWeb.

“Barcelona and Juventus are both superior in terms of staff but Inter lost with dignity and composure, while the second half of Dortmund leaves some doubts. Whether the words of the manager afterwards were right or wrong I shall let someone else decide that.

“Inter is a newborn project and in my opinion they are working in the right direction. I don’t know what they will achieve this year but patience is needed. Conte does not want to wait though and wants to immediately achieve something but to build a team capable of that, it takes time.

“The owners have made everything possible available to him. Of course something was missing, but we knew that from the beginning. The 45 minutes against Dortmund cannot compromise the good things done from the beginning of the season to now.”

He was then asked if he thinks things would have been different had Antonio Conte got those extra signings.

“It could have been the case but every has been changed at Inter. The owners are ambitious and have big goals for the club. I believe that in the future the owners will continue to make things available to further bridge the gap between the big teams and Inter.

“In the near future Inter will build a larger and more competitive squad, but it also takes time to figure out where to operate and January usually doesn’t give too many opportunities.”
