Inter CEO Beppe Marotta stopped by Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia for his traditional pre-match interview, moments before kick-off between the Nerazzurri and Hellas Verona at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district.

The former Juventus CEO underlined that the club is very much in line with Antonio Conte after the latter’s outburts midweek following the defeat against BVB.

“I know Conte very well, he is a very demanding man, a professional with a string culture of winning and a very specific way of communicating. We are all aligned with what he said, the search for excellence exists in all of us, and this is achieved through a gradual growth.”

“We have to be careful because everything can be improved but it takes a bit of time. At the first sight of opportunity, or during the upcoming January transfer window, we will be there to seize the opportunities that arise. But there are a series of situations to improve but we agree with him and we will work together to bring Inter back to the top.”

“My experience tells me that the January transfer window is a poor one, but our intentions, which we have agreed with our coach, is to seize on any opportunities.”

“To give him time is more important than giving him a gift, being aware that we are a strong club, have a great coach which is confirmed by the way that he handles things in this world. We will see what happens, we will evaluate it at the moment it arises.”

“Experience is a fundamental component in a player, this does not mean that we are interested in signing a player who is at the end of his career. We have to evaluate the opportunities that present themselves.”

“You need to have a mix of youth and experience, we already have these components in the squad even if few f our players have experience of European football, and we are a little behind in this aspect.”

“We have spoken often about this bar that needs to be raised Sunday after Sunday, we have to do it by building a competitive squad which meets our goals and the requests of the coach taking this mix into account.”

“I did not expect us to be one point behind Juventus, this is a good thing. We have to seize the positives from every comment and look forward, not backward, raising the bar and we will do so as the club’s owners wants this, the coach wants this, all of us want it and so do all the fans.”

“I am a great advocate of team work where everyone shares the weight of responsibility, but I can’t not rely on the technical staff, the staff of the directors, the Sporting Director.”

“The Sporting Director proposes the players with names and then together we make the decisions. The transfer window in terms of players signed, is the result of decisions of all parties.”

“The it is my responsibility to build a string team of players whilst maintaining the balance financially, which I have to keep account of clearly being the CEO.”
