High flying Hellas arrived at the Meazza hoping to grab anything they could get on the counter. Within 20 minutes they found themselves ahead against an Inter that hadn’t really caused them any trouble.

The goal sprung the Nerazzurri into life, bouyed by the over 66000 fans at the Meazza, Conte’s men proceeded to throw the kitchen sink at Juric’s men. It took 2 second half strikes including a beautiful Radja-esq curler from Niccolo Barella to send Inter top, at the very least for 24 hours.

Samir Handanovic – 5: Was caught cold and made the most basic of mistakes. Then had no saves to make for the rest of the game. Moved possession around the back well.

Milan Skriniar – 7: The only player who played with top level intensity even before Inter conceded. He’s a beast of a defender when on song and Hellas felt his wrath.

Stefan de Vrij – 7: Absolute class on the ball and has a shot from distance as well as we all found out. Doesn’t need to commit fouls, his positioning is that good.

Alessandro Bastoni – 7: Some errors with the ball, but nothing major to complain about. Defensively solid when called on for and made a crucial pass for Vecino’s goal.

Valentino Lazaro – 6.5: Too timid especially during the first half. Then upped the tempo and grabbed an assist. Could have got even more. Positive performance overall.

Nicolo Barella – 7.5: One bad pass but the rest of his game was inch perfect. Perfect box to box player. Probably scored the goal of the weekend with that curler.

Marcelo Brozovic – 6.5: Never stopped running or getting into the half spaces in spite of the tiredness. Unlucky to hit the crossbar. Deserves to go on a beach vacation ASAP.

Matias Vecino – 6.5: Only comes alive in the box, which came in handy tonight. Didn’t do enough in buildup play. Played through what looked like a minor concussion.

Cristiano Biraghi – 6: Much better defensive performance this time around. Had a lot of set pieces to take and most of them were good. Still needs time to adjust to Inter.

Lautaro Martinez – 5.5: Lautaro looked a bit off the boil in the first half, just couldn’t get going. It was that sort of night for Il Toro, the 50% balls never came to him. Tired.

Romelu Lukaku – 6.5: Woke up a bit late like his strike partner, but from then on he was involved in everything Inter created. Could and should have at least one goal.

Antonio Candreva – 6.5: Candreva under Conte is a monster of a player that makes a massive difference. Whether he plays for 9 or 90 minutes his impact is always felt.

Sebastiano Esposito – 6: Gave everything he had in the 15 minutes or so that he got to play. It’s clear Conte rates him and if he fulfills his potential, Inter have a superstar on their hands.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – N/A: Brought on to give Lazaro a rest and to bring stability to the defence after Inter went 2-1 up. His presence is very important for Conte next month.

Antonio Conte – 6.5: Conte’s storm in a tea cup ended in yesterday’s press conference. Then Pazza Inter went behind and won thanks to the mental coaching of Conte.

Paolo Valeri – 6: The only complaint tonight would probably be that the penalty was too soft. Managed the game well and the other major calls were well judged.

Inter – 6.5: The fact that Inter are winning games late and especially after going behind is a huge positive. Need to learn to keep clean sheets. Top of the league.
