Former Inter midfielder and current Genoa coach Thiago Motta touched on Inter owned striker Mauro Icardi following the Rossoblu’s tough 0-0 draw against Napoli yesterday, with Italian media outlet FcInterNews noting his words.

“Icardi is a great player, he played in a great team like Inter and arrived at a great squad like PSG. Playing alongside Di Maria and Verratti raises his level. He’s a penalty area striker, but now he’s also doing it from outside as well.”

The 26-year-old Argentinian striker, who joined the Parisian side earlier this summer on a loan deal with an option to buy, has impressed the French club, scoring nine goals and providing one assist in his first ten appearances for the club.

The Nerazzurri management are hoping that Paris Saint Germain are keen enough on Icardi to enact the €70 million buy option attached to his loan deal, especially considering the expensive summer purchase of former Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku.
