Fiorentina leadership have made initial contact with Luciano Spalletti with regards to possibly becoming the club’s next manager according to a report from FirenzeViola.it.
This approach comes after Fiorentina’s 5-2 defeat at the hands of Cagliari and whilst current manager Vincenzo Montella is not immediately at risk, it would appear that Fiorentina management are simply forming a contingency plan in the event of his dismissal in the future.
Spalletti is currently under contract with Inter through to the end of the 2020/21 season, despite being relieved of his duties by the Nerazzurri this past Summer in order to make way for Antonio Conte.
AC Milan went in for Spalletti upon sacking Marco Giampaolo but were forced to look elsewhere after Spalletti failed to agree a severance pay with Inter, who were unwilling to give in to his demands. If Montella is to be sacked, Fiorentina will also need Spalletti to reach an agreement with Inter.
