A report in today’s print edition of Milanese newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport has taken a look at how Inter manager Antonio Conte involves himself in transfer negotiations.
The former Italian national team manager firstly identifies his targets and alerts club management, who then get themselves to work. During the negotiation stage, Conte gets involved around the mid-way point.
He meets face to face with the player and asks him a series of questions to see if the player has the right motivations and if they have the right characteristics to become part of the group.
Alexis Sanchez, who arrived at the club on loan from Premier League outfit Manchester United during the Summer, was subject to this test and as per the report, passed the test with flying colours as he told Conte everything that he wanted to hear. As a result, Conte told management to proceed and finalise his signing.
