Inter and AC Milan have asked the Milan city council for a precise explanation on what they mean by wanting to change the function of San Siro according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

The Milanese clubs recently showcased plans for a new state-of-the-art stadium, a project that involved the complete demolition of San Siro.

However, a lot of fuss was kicked up about the clubs intentions to do so which led to a condition being placed on the public interest being declared that effectively means San Siro cannot be knocked down entirely.

As a result, the clubs are being forced to go back to the drawing board with the two bidding architectural companies but need to know whether the council wish to see the full stadium remain, only part of the stadium or just the towers, in order to allow them to change the plans appropriately.

The report goes on to state that the two clubs also still have to seriously think about the alternative site for their new stadium which could come in the Sesto San Giovanni area of the city.

The clubs wish to build commercial spaces with their new stadium but unlike at San Siro, there is far more commercial spaces already in operation in or near to Sesto San Giovanni which could well limit the amount of companies willing to get involved.
